Live life to the fullest, you just have this single one! Certainly, that would be a wish for all sentient beings on the planet. Circumstances out of our control force us into social boxes and we need to comply to rules we sometimes have to question.
Ask yourself things like how do you feel about your life right at this very moment? Are you living every day in expectation of joy and bliss? Do you love what you’re doing? Are you looking forward to what’s coming up next? And eventually, the culmination and most important of all: Are you living your best life possible?
If one or more answer to the questions above is No, let me assure you, you are not alone! Unfortunately though, happiness takes work and you need to work on it. People who smile in public have been through every bit as much as people who cry and drown in self-pity. They just have the courage and strength to smile through it anyway.
To live life to the fullest you need to be in the here and now and actively decide what you want from life. As Lori Gottlieb put it „You won’t get today back“. Because of that, I put together a list of 18 ways to live life to the fullest and focus on the positive.
18 ways to squeeze the best out of life
1 – Controll every day anew if you are on the right path. If you don´t feel well about a development, then work out something to change it. Self-care is also self-control about what makes you feel good.
2 – Stay in the here and now. Don´t worry about possible future developments or how things could turn out the worst way. Same goes for the past. Let go! Ruminating such thoughts just holds you back
3 – Stop victimizing yourself. Certainly it´s far easier to blame others for a situation, but you are not the victim of your circumstances but the creator. Create positive things and positive outcomes will follow
4 – Stop complaining. That also includes negative self-talk. If you send out negative vibes you´ll just receive negative vibes in return. To talk about problems is not complaining, just doing nothing about them is.
5 – Be proactive. Get out, do what you like and don not let others hold you back. If you have a dream, pursue it, no matter what others may say. Get rid of toxic people and work on your dream life.
6 – Set goals and define your lifes purpose. Take your time with that there is no hurry. Some people search for their lifes purpose for years. However, a good indicator is to simply look what makes you feel good and follow that path.
7 – Create a bucket list. Surf the web and check out what is possible in the world that could make you feel great. Write down the list and start to work on ticking off every single point step by step.
8 – Do the things you love and passionate about. Probably the most obvious suggestions but not everybody follows it. Too many outside influences as well as negative talkings hold us back.
9 – Spend more time with the right people. Those are the ones that support you in your endeavours and inspire and motivate you. Get rid of all toxic people in your surroundings, they are just a burden anyway.
10 – Deepen your relationships. If you are single, work on opening your mind to relationships and e. g.register at a dating website. If you are already in a partnership ask yourself how to make it better.
11 – Don´t procrastinate and don´t overthink. The 2 main reason why people never start. Don´t get too comfortable and put thigns and tasks to tomorrow. Also stop overthinking, things will turn out when they arrive.
12 – Upgrade yourself. That be done with physical exercises or by learning a new skill. Wanna travel to a foreign country? Well, better learn some basic words. Whatever you leanred nobody can take away from you.
13 – Try new things, often! Get out of your comfort zone regularely. Challenge yourself to do things you never thougth could be possible. Just try it, what could go wrong? Everybody starts somewhere.
14 – Don´t settle or less then the best. The best is a very subjective thing, so what´s awesome to you, someone else could find mediocre and vice versa. Don´t let yourself get disencouraged from that!
15 – Find role models and mentors. Others have gone the way to live life to the fullest. You don´t need to make all mistakes yourself. Learn from others who already walked that path.
16 – Enjoy the little things. While having big goals is great, you should fall prey to think ill of the little things. A kiss with your loved one. Being with your best friend. The breeze on your face. Quiet, alone time. Watching the sunrise.
17 – Let go of the how. Be specific on your end goals but let go of the obsession to have things done a certain way. You’ll realize to do what is necessary when the time has come. when you do so, you achieve what you want.
18 – Love life! There’s so much we don’t know out there and so much to be experienced that it’s just wonderful. As you live on earth, remember to love life. It’s the only way we have to live blissfully.
